Lyttelton Lounge Digital Exhibitions

The Lyttelton Lounge, located in the foyer of the National Theatre’s Lyttelton Theatre is a place where you can explore the National Theatre’s history. A physical and digital exhibition space, you can browse exclusive digital content from the National Theatre’s Archive.

The digital component of the Lyttelton Lounge exhibitions is presented using a HTML5 web app that is accessible to users via the National’s free public WiFi network and which displays curated content that complements the physical artefacts on show in a ‘digital magazine’ format. Built with Backbone and Marionette.js, the app is fully responsive and touch-friendly.

Content is presented in the form of collections of fullscreen articles that can be vertically scrolled or navigated between horizontally. Collections are assembled from modular templates that give editors the flexibility to deliver compelling longform textual content and immersive rich media, including videos, original production documentary photographs and digital scans from the National’s Archive.
